Cor Geerlings, with his son Jan as partner, operates a nursery in one of the most historic parts of Holland. The nursery was founded 60 years
ago and is located 20 kilometers west of Amsterdam. There, nearby the dunes, is the best sandy soil to grow dahlias.
Cor Geerlings started in the dahlia business just after World War II, when he was just 18. He started immediately with cross-breeding and in
1947 he produced the beautiful Glory of Heemstede, wich has long been a prototype for waterlily dahlias everywhere. After that he has
developed more waterlilies, such as Cream Beauty, Yvonne, Twiggy, Patty, Pearl of Heemstede, Royal Ivory, White Ballet, Night Dream,
and Caroline Wagemans.
In 1992 he started with cross-breeding ball-dahlias. For that he used Laura Marie as a parent, because of her good form. It was a succesful
experiment, for it produced perfect varieties as Cornel, Jomanda, Red Balloon, Loretta, Julio, Amira and Cindy. His newest accession is
"Ivanetti", a sport of Cornel, a very well formed purple small ball.
